Bad IPR

Can a bad IPR cause a hot no start issue. I've replaced stand pipes and dummy plugs, STC fitting about 60000 miles ago.

When i got truck going today after towing it home and cooling down, IPR was reading 80% at idle. Pulled IPR ohmed out at 5.6

What are the symptoms of a bad HPOP

When you do get truck running ICP is surging up and down, sounds lopy

It could, as the number given (for example your 80%) is what is commanded, but the actual movement of the solenoid isn't known.

So the PCM wants more pressure and commands more %, thinking it should see more pressure, but if the IPR is bad and not opening correctly then yes...

Could be crud on the screen or a collapsed screen. Or it flat out fails when hot.

The symptom you mention highlighted in bold red is exactly what I've ran into in the past on more than one occasion that replacing the IPR repaired successfully. For what it's worth, one truck I had towed in last week with a bad IPR gave me an identical ohm reading to a brand new one.

Sounds about right for Ohms per a Good Sensor IIRC my notes state 8 ohms or less

Like Josh says IPR has No position sensor so God Only Knows

Do you Run OE Oil Filter and OEM Oil Filter Cap this is Important

It would Also Realy Help if you could post ICP in Addition to IPR% when there is a HPO Concern

Also Might not hurt to Post

ICPV at KOEO too

Thats Just me though I try to gather as Much Info as Possible before making a Desision

Then I would Pull IPR Out to Inspect the screen

then go from there

Id say the Majoirity of the time with a Surging Idel the IPR is at Fault and Usually a Plugged screen

The icp v is .80 which i think is spec.
Truck has only seen factory filters and cap.
When I pulled ipr, screen stayed in pump so had to dig it out, but it looked fine.
Thanks for all your replys everyone
