It's going to be interesting to see what this new Gen 6 plateform does at Daytona.
The drivers seem to like the cars. Jr. said that it's more like the car that they had before the COT car.
Between the new cars, whose runnin' with who these days, Danica's scandalous new boy-toy relationship---it'll be a great time I'm sure!
I myself would love to see a return of a car design that pretty much required drafting and allowed passing, much like the days of Harry Gant, young Darrell Waltrip, Tim Richmond, Morgan Sheppard, Neil Bonnet, Bill Elliot and Richard was still running (near the back most times though
). Those were the good old days before Tony Stewart, Rusty Wallace and a few other butts I could live without! Hard to believe that was a mere 30 some years ago huh?
Seems Danica might have some hottie driver competition up and coming though. Johanna Long and Tia Norfleet are camera ready I'm sure!
Danica Patrick first woman to win Daytona 500 pole
She became the first woman to win the pole position for the Daytona 500 -- and a Sprint Cup event -- on Sunday when the rookie posted a lap of 196.434 mph.

25 laps, CRASH.
35 laps, CRASH.
person involved in crash throws helmet at person that caused crash.
15 laps from end of race, CRASH.
stewart talks smack about ernhardt.
ernhard talks smack about stewart.

But yeah if you're not into any sport behind-the-scenes is boring as all get out. Golf immediately comes to my mind----well that and those buffoons in cage fighting or the rest of that circusy stuff!
And if NASCAR guys (girls too now!) ain't wrecking and bad mouthing one another its because they're not running hard enough.
Its all good but even being a NASCAR fan doesn't mean I don't like other forms of competition too. Daytona 500 doesn't receive one or two weeks of hyping so maybe that's the "problem"?

Making the pace laps before the race, he got on the radio and said " I hope you ain't to attached to this car!"....lol
Man are these cars touchy in the draft.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
The bumpers don't line up and the cars are fast! That's how it was back in the day though. The Monte bumper didn't line up with the guy driving a Buick Regal, but that's what made those guys great, they worked with what they had.
Here, here now-----no need to be snarky, especially about unconfirmed rumors. Then again if a suspected male can get the women Jeff does---might be a method to his madness?

I also loved Dale Jr's comments----don't get attached to anything he's driving.
I love all the comments about Danica---that was part of her participation in Indy cars too. Even my favorite rabble rouser Robbie Gordon tried dismissing her, saying since she weighed so much less than the men she had a speed advantage---he's hilarious.
Sure she wrecks on occasion but a lot of times she's taken out by a man----can't blame her for that. I've always looked at her as only those finishing behind her are griping, can't they beat a girl on the track?
Adding she's no different than a lot of second and third generation drivers, those who were given top rides just because of who they were, not necessarily their then-present talent. Of course many did go on to at least match their fathers accomplishments, would they if having to work their way up like most others? Hard to know..............
And aren't we all who'd rather NOT be sitting on the couch watching, being in the car instead---a bit jealous of Danica?

Tony has taken her under his wing and has showed her how to get around some of these tracks.
The statement above is very true, I've seen Danica run well many times only to be put into the wall by a competitor.
It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out, she's a great driver, but don't expect to see here in victory lane on Sunday.
If Mikey runs, you may want to pick him for your fantasy league. Dale Sr. showed Mikey how to run at Daytona, and he runs very well there no matter what he's in for a ride.
Steve Park won the modified race last night in "The Battle at the Beach" that was one hell of a race. There were 17 or 18 cautions. Those guys are nuts.
Steve Park lived with Dale Sr back in the day, it's really to bad his career was cut so short due to an accident. He's a very talented guy. He's been through some tough times.
