Heard that 30 fans were injured, with two being critical. Hoping everybody gets through this difficult time ok. Glad to see Larson was ok too. Annett is being held in the hospital overnight for observation. Crazy race toward the end.
Hey Tim...guess you blew your prediction!! Danica's inexperience did take it's toll tho.... she should have dove to the inside and used up the lower half of the go pedal she said she wasn't using in the interview after the race.... and she had room to do it too at 2 laps to go.
I didn't want to see that last caution. I was proud of how my driver, Keselowski held on with the front end damage he sustained early in the race. I'm definitely liking these new cars.
I will say this...as usual at Daytona..the trucks put on the best "racing" show..and by that I mean pure racing...no other media hype involved. I pray that everyone pulls thru the event that occured in the Nationwide race but I will say this year the Daytona 500 out hyped itself....
Hey even Fidddy cent made an appearance and followed the cute blond FOX pit reporter ( if you call her that ) to try and find Danica.....
i think they should bring class 8 semi truck racing here. it is big over in europe.
Used to watch them here in the US, running tracks like the old Atlanta etc. It was hilarious during pit stops----changing a tire was a monumental task. A lot of 'em made crazy good horsepower but as expected the tires just weren't up to all those side G forces. Might be something on YouTube about it, was in the 80's sometime IIRC.

Erin Andrews---she of the hotel door peep hole fame! She wasn't much of a pit reporter---where's the foxy Jamie Little when she's really needed?
Danica and Dale Jr had an excellent chance to maybe shoot to the front on lap 16 (or about). Jimmy was coming strong on the bottom, she and Dale Jr 3rd and 4th on the top. Had either or both of them dropped down to pick up Johnson's draft they might have motored to the front. At the very end her lack of experience and willingness to take a huge chance did catch her a bit short. Of course its always easier "bench racing" after the checkers drops huh?
Keselowsky did an amazing job after his early wreck to be back in contention like he did. Boy Howdy did I ever jump for joy when #18 blew up and limped to the pits--nuff said!
The injured fans are all reported either released or in stable condition now---that's great to hear no matter who won the 500. Not as much passing as I'd hoped for, more running in a line, heading to the back if you don't have help. Bumper height now being different means a few drivers will have to re-learn the bump drafting, who to touch and who not.
Just before Fox began its broadcast coverage at noon EST there was a 30 minute Ford Fusion commercial--semi interesting, also available in its entirety through Ford.com.
So good race, all my favorites to be in or OUT at the end did as I hoped. Does anyone else find it a bit humorous Danica finished in 8th---her trademark position in a lot of the IRL races. She did well, stayed out of trouble so good on her for the beginning of her full season running with the boys.
Just another BS parade they called a race. And how convenient is a caution when a Hendrick car is leading at that particular scoring loop. Ford had it, and damned right I'm PO'd . CB
I don't know what the heck happened at the end of the Daytona 500, the only guy to make a move was the 88, I couldn't believe nobody moved with 3 to go. It was really weird.

Hopefully they do some tweaking to the rule package for restrictor plate tracks with this car. As much as I hate the packs and tandem racing it sure made the race entertaining.
Look at the truck race and Nationwide race. I PVR'ed the Nationwide race and watched it yesterday and it was by far the best race.

Micheal Annett UPDATE:
Michael Annett was seriously injured during Saturday's Nationwide race at Daytona International Speedway.
His accident happened before, and was kind of over-shadowed by the Karl Larson wreck which took place at the end of the event.
Annett's car plowed head first into the retaining wall, pretty much at full speed on Saturday. He was brought to Halifax hospital in Daytona, where he was treated, observed, and then released.
After further testing in Charlotte, it has been determined that he has suffered a fractured and dislocated sternum and will undergo surgery immediately.
Aric Almirola will take over driving duties while Annett recovers from his injuries.

And could you imagine if the safer barrier wasn't there to absorb some of the force of the impact.
