I posted a few months ago about a rough idle, and didn't get much information but me and my dad are going with a vacuum leak, regardless all lines need to be replaced anyways since the trucks got 330k on it. Anyways,
In the process of replacing some, and plugging a hole where my auto-hubs used to be, i got to my egr and seen the tiny little vacuum hose on the top of it. Since my truck still has a rough idle, i started it with the vacuum hose off the EGR to simulate a vacuum leak, and the truck ran the exact same as with it plugged back on. Would this mean a ruptured EGR? The line itself has no cracks in it. If so, i'll probably just cut the EGR off and weld a fat bolt in there to plug it
The EGR valve doesn't open at idle. It only opens during light-to-moderate throttle.
So, doing it at idle wouldn't change anything.
You may, however, have a leaky EGR valve that is allowing exhaust to pass even when it is SUPPOSED to be closed... I think you could pull a hose off the DPFE (EGR flow sensor) and plug it and see if that helps the idle.
Well that was my issue, i see alot of people post about how EGR valves seldom fault and its usually the DPFE, but nope. Took the egr off and it rattled like no other. put a homemade gasket inbetween the egr and the intake to plug it from working, solved my issue
