I'm a newbie here, but I just bought a 2005 F350 DRW and would like to get an Oasis report on it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The truck
VIN is 1FTWW33P75EB09259.
Mostly ignorance. I am a new truck owner (never owned a Ford before) and never heard of an Oasis report until after I bought the vehicle. I had an independant inspector go over my vehicle and he made me aware of Oasis.
As the truck has 99,000 miles on it, I am considering what my options are for servicing and upgrades. For example, I would like to know if the oil cooler or EGR cooler have been replaced under warranty--which would help me evaluate what (and when) I might need to worry about changes to the system.
I am learning. I have read a bunch on this and other forums which has been a great educational experience. I at least am learning what questions to ask--such as 'how do I get an Oasis report?'
If you have a friend that works in a Ford shop, he could get it for you. Or go in one while you are buying parts (have your registration with you) and ask nicely & MAYBE the parts guy will run it for you. Worse case is you'll have to pay at the dealer for it.
Well, fortune smiled on me. I did hop over (broke my foot last week) to the local Ford dealership and asked the parts guy if he could run an Oasis report for me. He just asked for the VIN and ran it without further fanfare.
For grins I asked what an extended warranty from Ford would cost for my 99k-mile 2005 F350. They told me that following a 24-point inspection they would soak me for a 2-year/24K mile power train warranty costing $3193! I'd rather spend my money enhancing the weak points of the design so that I am less likely to need an expensive warranty repair.
Well depending on how much you enjoy wrenching on your own vehicles will determine how worth it the 3 grand price tag is. Repair cost on these trucks add up fast, I think just to have the EGR/Oil coolers replaced at the dealer is like 2400 bucks.
