My new 2003 F350 XLT 4x4 came with 315/75/16 Nitto Terra Grapplers, load range D, mounted on the stock 16x7 rims.
The truck was leveled with about a 2.8" 5-leaf mini pack.
I'll be hauling a 2500 lb truck camper, so I intend to change to a smaller load range E tire, probably 285/75/16.
Is there any reason to keep the leveling kit on, or would it be better to remove it?
Is it possible to remove just a few of the mini-leafs, to reduce it to just a 1" lift?
You can remove as many of the leaves as you want, just start with the shortest ones first. I also haul a camper, weighs about 2600# and run the 315's load range D at 50 psi and have a mini spring pak on the front. Have had no issues. I do have air bags on the rear.
The 315's are a bit too wide for my stock 7" rims. The truck squirms a bit when lane changing. I installed a Hellwig sway bar, Rancho 9000s, and Torklift Stableloads, which helped some. I figure smaller, higher psi tires would give it better highway manners, and better acceleration.
I'm wondering if 285's with the leveling kit will leave a big gap in the wheel well.
