I agree with your thinking. The fact that the hazards work proves out the wiring, grounding, sockets and bulbs on all four corners. The fact that the right-side blinker works proves out the turn signal flasher and the fuse. The process of elimination points to the turn signal switch. One side can break while the other side remains operational.
