If anyone out there have some advice on how I might be able to get my indicators working again it would be a great deal of help to me! I just purchased the truck from someone I know and the engine runs perfectly. I changed all the lightbulbs and the indicator flasher that mounts onto the fuse panel. I also checked all fuses and they are good. My back two flashers work when I turn my hazards on, but no signal lights when I use my turn-signals... The only conclusion I come to is to replace the internal electric turning signal switch, which involves taking the steering wheel off. If anyone thinks I might have missed something, your advice would be appreciated!
Thanks for the tip I checked the flasher on the front right hand side too(under the dash) and it seems to work ok when I turn my hazards on, but only the rear hazards work. Still no indicators f/r though..... thinking about replacing the indicator switch....any advice?
The hazard flashers go thru the turn signal switch; Try wiggling the turn signal switch up and down while the flashers are working with someone outside to watch all of the external lights (not necessarily at the same time). Sometimes this will make a difference as the contacts inside the switch wipe over the different positions. If you see a change the turn signal switch is probably your culprit.
Although you said you changed bulbs, Have you checked <all> the the dash// and // turn signal/parking bulbs first?? Just because the park lights work in front doesn't mean the turn signal filaments are good, or the dash indicator bulbs.
Fuse 5, 15A powers Turn signal and fuse 1, 15A powers emergency flashers and stop lamp switch; both sources go thru the hazard switch and the turn signal switch.
Hope this helps.
Hey, thanks a lot for your help....turned out to be the turn signal switch. I changed it out yesterday and it works just fine! I think the tilt wheel mechanism probably wore out. Not even as hard as I thought it would be! I ended up also changing pretty much all the bulbs, as quite a few were bad, but the problem was definately the switch. Thanks a lot for your help.
