advice needed

im taking the engine out of my 4x4 to have it replaced. i know i cant pull the trans out with the engine because of the transfer case. i was planning on disconnected the bellhousing from the engine n sliding it off n then lifting it out. do i have to drop the transmission and transfer case or can i just put a jack underneath the transmission

what year truck?

when i pull the engine out of my truck i never put anything under the transmission. i just pull the engine out. your gonna have to pick the engine up some then slide it out, the torque convertor will come out of the transmission with it, (giving it's a auto) when you reinstall it just make sure it is completely seated in the transmission.

79 and down the tcase mount will hold the trans with the engine removed. 80-96 will need a jack, jackstand or dependable midget under the tcase.

i would go with the jack or blocks. if you have the engine out for more than 2 days you will need to feed the midget, and food is expensive.

You need a jib crane of win attached to your roof shop.

Don't let your drunken friend use it though, he might break it.

and that is why you can't get any dependable help anymore.

midgets need more than a pack of crackers every 2-3 days to survive. they need a sixer of cheap beer too
