I'm about to buy this cam and lifters. Has anyone used Howards? I've read they just bought some impressive machinery, and are gearing up for greater volume production.
It is almost identical to the Isky 262. Amazes me how different cam co's write the power band numbers. I guess that is why athletes don't write their own press.
Are you building a new engine or swapping out the cam you've got now? If you're swapping out I might be interested in buying your used Isky cam and lifters.
I'm still tossing it around. Pulling the cam means r&r the radiator and grill and I'm not sure I really want to do all that extra work just to have a lope at idle. But I might.
I'm still buying/finding/researching the porting tools and methods I will be using to remove the ridges from my combustion chambers and to clean up the runners. I also contacted SI valves about new oversize valves, the exact length as the oem ones--imagine that.
I will say that Howard's parkerizes their cams, and that is a critical step in cam production. That cam should be a good choice for a mild 300.
I'm seriously debating between their 209 and 213 cam. Leaving more towards the 209. I've been playing in desktop dyno and it yielded a little more trq down low
Exactly! The term "down low" is highly subjective without a definition as to where 'down low" is and the way the term is used, misused and abused it is quite often meaningless.
