I just replaced my wifes motor in her 2006 Explorer 4.6 3 valve due to low compression on one of the cylinders. Now I have reinstalled a junk yard motor and it runs like crap. Has an extreme loss of power and it clatters. I have no CEL on however I have codes P0172 and P0174 pending. Im sure if I drive it long enough they will be hard codes and trip the CEL. I have read that it could be a dirty MAF sensor. I took it out tonight and cleaned it. I do not hear any vacuum leaks. Has anyone had both codes and actually fixed it or can someone point me into the right direction? Thanks
Well if anyone has these codes and is searching for this exact problem. I ended up buying a MAF meter and trying it. It still ran bad. So I returned it. I could not figure out why I had both of those codes pending but no check engine light. It seemed the engine was running fine. So I got to thinking that maybe a cat was plugged. I pulled the O2 sensor out of the lean bank side and let it dangle next to the exhaust. I then pulled the Explorer out on the street and it had its ***** back. So now I am searching for a cat or Y pipe.
I all ready try ;remove spark plugs chek compression bank one hav 3 cylinder with 150 psi &1 only 110psi bank2 al cylinder 190 psi. clean ma fsensor replce pcv valve elbow hose coil inyectors I try first the mayor tune up
