Ok, I need a bit of advice. I have a chance to buy a 1986 f250, 4x4, 4speed, 6.9IDI XLT lariet, it has a tach dash with trip meter. Needs a drivers window motor, and of course the glow plugs don't work rite, the paint is crappy and the TTB needs bushings bad! I think i could pick it up for $550. I was thinking on parting it out, but wasn't sure if the value of the parts makes the truck worth it.....Advice? Thanks!
I bought an 85 XLT Lariat for $225 and parted it out. The tailgate trim panel alone brought me $100. But, it was a lot of work and the payback was a couple of years in coming. So, $550 is a bit steep for a truck you are parting out. Unless there are a number of really nice things on there you will be a looooong time getting your money back.
Having said all that, in the future please use full sentences, capital letters, etc. I struggled through deciphering this post, but doubt I will make it through another like it in future.
Thanks! Much better. The way I figure it, there are more people asking questions than answering them, so I go where I can be the most efficient. If I can't read the question(s) or can't get my head around them easily I'll go on to someone else's question.
