Lokar 48" cable & Offy C

I have a few questions I was hoping to have answered:

I am running a Lokar 48" throttle cable with an Offy DP. If I go with an Offy C, and run the throttle on the valve cover side, if that cable long enough?

2. If not, is there a problem mounting the carb with throttle linkage toward passenger fender?

3. What changes can I expect to feel with performance changing from DP to C? I know what Offy says, but has anyone done it?

4. I'm curious. So much time is spent smoothing out the runners in the head of a 240/300. Why doesn't anyone mention doing the same with the intake; using a wheel with 110 grit to knock down the coarse runners?

1. Should be well long enough if you did not shorten it.

3. You will have to tell us. It may be a bit doggy at low rpms without putting a 4-hole spacer between the carb and manifold.

4. That is part of a mild port/polish job BUT 110 might be too fine. A 60 grit would probably be better...you don't want to shiny up the intake side too much...usually just enough to knock off any casting flash that might be present.

Different model vehicle, but I use the factory cable with an Offy C and it's shorter than 48" so you should have no worries.

One of the guys on the FSP board swapped from a DP to a C (or a Clifford, maybe?), Buddy Rawls, I think.

There's really not anything to be gained cleaning up the intake. The farther away you get from the valve seat the less it matters. You know the old saying, ninety percent of the gains from porting come from the area within 1" of the valve seat. Cleaning up a little beyond that area on the bottom of the runner and the sides where it starts to turn and maybe shaping the valve guide should help. If you're gonna DIY smoothing the runners with 60 grit rolls won't hurt, but I wouldn't pay someone to do it.
