Window pillar gauges are just that, a gauge for a specific measurement. Scangauge (or other digital OBD reader) will let you check LOT'S of measurements. Over-all cost is less to monitor more. Lot's of guys (and gals) use the scangauge as it is effective and one of the least expensive options.
I don't think it took me 15 minutes to get my Edge installed, including removing a few pieces of the dash to route the wire. All depends on what/where you mount it in the truck. But they have a cable that plugs in to the OBD port under the dash-just plug it in. Scangauge needs to have PID's programmed (I believe, not totally sure as I don't have one) but my edge was plug in, tell it what truck it's in and go.
ordered a smoked "3 rd" cab light and a new driver mirror (the origional one had bad paint peeling issues)
am looking for smoked taillights and headlights... any suggestions for a good set that wont set me back a arm and a leg?
ALSO am looking to add cab lights (smoked f course) as i have seen pics of the 1 tons with them and i think they really add a nice touch to a truck. any suggestions on doing it myself or professional install and how hard would it be?
looking at the brake/backup led light bars that go below the tail gate... 48-49" but i cannot find one in smoke color..... trying to keep the truck as "black" as possible i guess... never was into the smoked lens's until i bought this truck
installed the window vents this weekend always thought they looked cool on ANY truck.. waiting on the 3rd brake light should be in today and the replacement driver mirror tomorrow (weather held both up)..
yesterday I had a 1200W kicker amp and 2 10" subs mounted behind the rear seat.. also got my sirrus xm fixed finally... guess the boxes needed reset.. Just a shame didnt have them done when I left for Wyoming on Friday... oh well they in for next month
looking at fender flares, smoked lens's front and back (slight tint not dark dark) and a under tailgate light bar..
keep your receipt for the tail light bar under the tailgate. everyone I have ever seen has failed lights on them. people I know who had them took them off or took them back.
^ yes, the top 3 mods i would recommend to any new 6.0 owner are Scangauge, coolant filter and blue spring. The blue spring replaces the old spring in the fuel regulator and increases fuel pressure to a level safe for the injectors to operate
i believe there is a blue one in... or so i been told the p/o had $4k work done to motor last spring... receipts were in glove box but missing after detailed at dealer.
how do you tell what upgrades have been done? or could taking to a diesel performance shop be in order to see whats done/not done?
Ok, thats good. The spring itself is blue, hence the name, and i dont think a diesel shop would cheap you out of a $30 upgrade.
The only way to tell what spring is in it is to take it all the way apart and visually inspect
Do you know if it has been head studded? If you look below the valve covers on the engine, you will either see a typical bolt head (factory) or a stud with a 12 point nut on it (taken apart and studded) and a small hole in the top of the stud
