Just a thought, but is the one lens cloudy, causing it to look dimmer?

Or the socket is bad to begin with. Given the fact that you tried 4 bulbs, it sounds like you desperately wanted the bulb to be the problem

look at the ground wires. sounds like a ground issue to me. check for looseness, corrosion either on a terminal, wire, or inside the socket.

Bulb in backwards?
They're supossed to only fit one way but the tolerance in the socket isn't exact, allowing for a bulb to be installed backwards if slightly forced.

winner winner chicken dinner! that was the problem. i pulled the lights again and seen the socket spliced in to the wiring with electrical tape switched the wires around and now both sides are bright. thanx

Glad to hear you got it worked out - but now that you know what's up, you should go back over the connection and do it properly with solder and shrink wrap (as opposed to electrical tape).

Actually, the parking lights should be the dimmer light, and turn signals brighter. Maybe they're both wired wrong now?

That's what jumped into my head when I read it. They should both be DIM with the just parking lights on.
