Just received the 1993 Bronco that is in my sig today. As it was being driven off the flatbed tow truck, I noticed that whenever the driver put his foot on the brake pedal the front parking lights went on as well as the brake lights. I have never seen, or heard of this problem before. I have not had a chance to look at it much as it got here at dusk, but was just wondering if anyone had ever run into this problem, or heard of anyone who had? I am hoping it is not something that requires a lot of poking around as I am temporarily disabled, and mobility is an issue. Also, I should point out that because the parking lights come on with the brake lights, the brake lights are not that bright. I know it needs a bulb on the driver's side for the turn signals, as that side does not flash, but I am sure that is not the reason for this issue.

I would not jump to that conclusion. I had a car once that developed the parking lights coming on with the brake lights. And one side would not blink turn signal. The tail light bulbs were the 1157 bulbs (double bayonet) that have two filaments - one for brake/turn and the other for running light. These bulbs had solder bumps for the terminals.
I pulled out the bulb on that side, the socket looked fine inside, but on the bottom of the bulb, it had grown a solder track from one filament terminal to the other. Replaced bulb, fixed problem.
Another possibility may be a bad ground for the rear light housing(s). I would look first at the side that does not blink.
Interesting, I am sure I can check the bulbs on the driver side to see if they are good, or burned out, I was just afraid I might have to look under the dash (not possible at the moment) for the problem. I have some 1157's around here somewhere, but I think they are the amber version, will have to pick up the clear ones if needed. Thanks for the welcome, I will be a very frequent visitor here as this Bronco is not in perfect shape, however, it was free, so I am not allowed to complain
I once had a similar problem with a 1970's Olds Cutlass (cool car btw!). It developed weird symptoms regarding how the lights worked. As it turns out it was the taillight bulbs themselves, I was buying the cheap bulbs and the guy at the auto parts store had seen me a couple of times buying bulbs and mentioned that the cheap ones caused problems. So I bought the name brand bulbs that took care it. If you are using the off-brand el cheapo bulbs, or that's what was in the truck when you got it, that may be your problem. I picked up a carton of 50 sealed genuine GE 1157's on eBay for about $10, although in eleven years my Bronco has never had a bulb go out except for the headlights (knock on wood). But 1157's are used in a lot of cars and on Harley's and other motorcycles too, although I replaced the one on my Harley with an LED, it has a side mount taillight that's a pain in the butt to get the bulb out of so I put in an LED one so it wouldn't blow out. Funny, I had originally bought two 1157 LED replacements to put in my Bronco for no real reason, but they would instantly blow the fuse every time I turned on the lights so I went back to the same old 1157's that have been in the truck, probably since it was new and at least since 2001. So don't go the LED route. But I was glad I had them around when I put the side mount light on my bike and one day the bulb went out and I realised that it was a pain to replace. Anyway I can send you a couple of 1157's if you should need them but I doubt you will, the 1157 bulb is about the most common thing on planet Earth. Just do't get them at the dollar store! Buy the name brand ones.
Hopefully that fixes your issue. I've had to rewire part of my truck its not easy/fun
I have to do the same :'[ The PO being a ******* he was, when he respray painted my truck he, for whatever reason, cut all the wiring to lights and my tailgate, so my driver front turn signal is intermittent for when it wants to work. as for my tailgate the key switch is shot so the wiring goes from the tailgate jam into the tailgate and directly to the motor. there is an aftermarket switch on my dash so i can used the window but the PO didn't tell me any of this...
Well, this keeps getting better and better. Today I drove the Bronco to run some errands, and the entire time the turn signals worked fine. I have not done anything to them yet, and they seem to have fixed themselves. So obviously there is a loose connection or wire somewhere. Now, I need to find it.

Mine is caused by the flasher wire going into the light socket and it is loose, I just need a new socket i think. I tried one that came from a spare tail light but it didn't work. Good luck!
Drove the Bronco during the dusk hour, and noticed when I put my foot on the brake, the dash lights come on. Also, checked all the exterior lights to see which ones worked, and which ones were burned out. I noticed the the driver side brake light stays on all the time. So, I will take the bulb out and check it tomorrow, and check the connector as well. Also noticed one of the dash lights was burned out, the one on the far right that covers the right side of the tach. I checked the operation of the flashers, and again I noticed the dash lights blink off and on. This just keeps getting better and better. I have a electrical gremlin in here somewhere.
Wow Jim sounds like you got a lot of work on your hands, I currently have only the dash lights for my gear selector, my climate control panel and my high beam indicator. My right blinker dash light works and the left one works sometimes and sometimes doesn't I don't know if it is cause by the f***ed up socket or the tin foil fuse replacement in my instrument panel slot for my fuse box... Eventually I will get to that but i have more pressing matters to deal with on this truck...
Yeah, going to be interesting trying to track down the culprit. I may just replace all burned out bulbs, and the driver side brake light socket, and if that does not cure the issue, take it to a shop that specializes in electrical work. Doing that means waiting until I get a job and can afford to pay them.
Well, for the time being I can't even change the bulbs, as I still have not found my small bag of spare light bulbs. I remember taking them out of the toolbox so they did not get broken, and now I can't find them. What makes it interesting is I put them somewhere where I could get to them easily, but now can't remember where that is.
