I have recently purchased a 1991 f-250 4x4 extended cab with a 7.3L from a friend of mine. He was the second owner and he got it from his uncle so history of the truck is knowen. He started having to keep the truck plugged in to get it to start every morning, he assumed it was electrical and changed alot of things in that area. He gave up and now I got it. I have changed the starter, alternator, all cables, voltage regulator, and the glow plug harness. It still has to be plugged in to start. I live on the west coast of canada near the U.S border and winter temp is around 10 degrees celcius or 50 farenheit so there is not much of a need to have vehicle plugged in here. If it is not plugged in and I try to start in the morning it sounds so close to starting but then it will kill the battery before anything. The injector pump is only got about 10,000 kms on it and the issue started about a year after new pump, so I am only assuming it is not that. I am at a loss with it and I think it is not electrical. Anyone have an idea.
sounds like you got most covered.how many miles are on the engine? are you sure she's got good compression?
you changed the GP harness, but also the plugs too right? with motorcraft/beru? or?
what about the fuel system? like you i did all the obvious stuff first.it wasn't until i took out the original '93 injectors and put a fresh set in,that i got my instant 90 degree weather instant starts even in 0 degree weather.iv got mine cold starting better than any gas engine iv ever owned.
