I have a 2002 F-250 4x4 with the 5.4 gas engine and 4R100 Transmission. I am Rebuilding the transmission and was wondering what torque converter to put back in it, any suggestions?
Chill man, most of the upper east coast users are very busy with 40" of snow. I know sonnax and suncoast are good companies but I have no clue about the gassers, you could try contacting one of them.
Yes the shop that did mine wanted a grand for it too.... i just happened to call Dacco and asked them how much it was if I was to buy it my self... So I know the shop got an even better deal then I did. Had it been a Suncoast or other "brand name" converter I would have paid it. It is sick what some shops get away with charging for parts. After I had mine R&R'd I talked to the shop that my Dad has used a few times and he would have charged me almost 1k less for the same rebuild as what I got, including all the upgraded hard parts I had added.
I made a deal with the shop that IF it had to come back out I would pay half labor and it saved me 900 bucks.
