Be careful when you do. The bracket which the sensor is mounted to was bending all over the place. I was trying to form it back into original position so we could re-connect the line under the truck when I broke the sensor.

Pull the cover off with the tube completely... and flatten it with a hammer and a very flat, hard surface.mine was bent also from somebody not using the backing nut. Talk about a mess under the hood. Oily grease sludge was everywhere on the drivers side.

Everybody on this thread absolutely has to read my thread. If you don't want to go through the whole thing, read the conclusions at least!

For those who needs new parts, Clay has the best price for the tube and sensor. However, if you need a new MAP sensor, Autozone has the best price of $65

There are aftermarket options out there, I haven't looked into your boy David's site, but DP used to sell a new bracket for the HPOP gear cover and EBPS.

Looks like they now sell Driven't option, which allows easy access to the bolt.

Driven Diesel HPOP Gear Cover Kit with EBP Sensor Tube (This item is drop shipped from Driven Diesel)

David will price match any item from anywhere so I'll always buy from him. He also now sells complete 7.3 blocks, rods, cams, you name it. http://www.diperformancetransmission...hortblock.html

Hello 800 hp 7.3 build, goodbye dreams of sending kids to college.

I'm going to eventually have to purchase an entire set up as Big AL just posted. The reason it bent was because the nuts were rusted. I had to take off the cover plate that the bracket is connected to with the tube on it and still could not break that nut loose.

Thanks though.

Yikes, well at least the sensor isn't too terribly expensive and it's not terribly difficult to fix.

I recently pulled mine apart and cleaned the tube and opted for a new sensor, the old one was completely stuffed up. 130k and was never cleaned, no wonder the fuel mileage took a dive.

Update: Now that I've driven my truck a few hundred miles without the ebpv sensor or tube connected I've noticed her performance to have declined. I want to say significantly but I'll hold off saying that for now. I am confused as to why at all this is happening. I did ask David, he said that if I even get a new one to leave it open to atmosphere..??

Would anyone know if this would help her performance or would connecting it all back together be best. I'm currently leaning towards the latter. I ask because if I absolutely do not need it then that money can go elsewhere, such as injectors which are planned.

Also, I've not filled her up since I broke the sensor so I have no real data logged to confirm any possible findings but her mileage is seemingly worse, best descriptive would be like having a cold and wheezing is how she's acting and while eating boxes, the cardboard container and all, of Kleenex.

I was led to believe, or maybe I came to my own conclusion somewhere along the way, that the ebpv was of no real importance yet this has me wondering.?

I'll have to read and reply tomorrow evening, work beckons still. Thanks for any and all help.

Also, will the lack of an ebpv hinder the bigger injectors or the truck's ability to be tuned properly, to run properly? Thanks.

I know the PCM uses back pressure for fueling. I'm not sure what all goes on in those calculations but I would bet Tugly knows. He has seen a lot with his AE eye. I'm guessing having the sensor unplugged is not as bad as it reading high or low. Atleast with it unplugged the PCM will revert back to default values. If its plugged in but open to atmosphere, it would be akin to a clogged tube, which many here have experience with poor fuel mileage under those circumstances.

I'm wondering if the pcm is defaulting to a certain value if me running her in constant tunes is causing this..?

Would anyone know the Ford and or Motorcraft part numbers for both the ebpv sensor and then for the tube? Thanks.
