anything better (ds2)
Is there a system i can buy with everything needed, brand new, that will do the same or better?
i don't know your wiring abilities, but if i were facing your situation, i'd pick up a roll of wire and some crimp on connectors, study the wiring diagrams for an 83 (theoretical donor) and whatever year yours is (85 or 86 IIRC). i know that the connectors on the left fender are the same between the two, the duraspark module can plug in right there, then you really just have to run wiring from the module to the distributor. IIRC the dizzy has a 3 wire plug, which means you're only trying to get 3 wires straight from it back to the module.
note that i'm quite confident running wires around, i don't know where you're at, wiring really scares some guys, and if thats your case, you might post in the junkyard wishlist sticky and see if someone on here gets lucky and finds the harness you need at their local junkyard - they show up at my local yards every now and then
Wiring to me is nothing IF i know exactly what im connecting to what. Underhood im a little nervous. I dont want to clip the wrong thing but i know i can always hook them back together. I can wire av and stereos in a vehicle very well though.
I just see things of- do a all ford swap, or add in a chevy module, or swap this part for that one because modules or boxes fail.
I venture way out in the sticks hunting and stuff and if a part fails it could be a couple days before i see another person.
I guess im looking for something as reliable as modern ignition. Something all in one kit. Every stinkin piece from a coil to shrink tube. I dont work at a parts store and dont trust them to give me everything i ask for exactly right.
