i've ordered several thousand dollars of stuff from lmc, never had trouble with one single thing. i ordered parklights for 73-77 and later changed out to a 78 grille shell, they even let me send them back(unused) in exchange for the new ones i wanted and gave me no b.s. about it.
shipping is shipping. i order from amazon sometimes and shipping about screws me there too.
one good thing about lmc is shipping is free for orders over 1000 dollars. my first order got me a "free" steering wheel by avoiding 200 in shipping(truck freight).
i usually try to have a list on hand of what im wanting and ill bulk it all up at once, seems to be the best way to save. but ya have to play a waiting game.
next time i have a big order i think i might make the trip to kansas city myself and pick it up, i'd like a tour too!
and yeah, if your ever low on a supply of packing peanuts lmc is the place to get them from, they package the heck out of everything! another good reason to order from them.
I agree, parts usually cost double what you fellas south of the border are paying. Oh well at least we have beautiful weather one month a year. Lol
What gives? Is it a value-added tax (VAT), a tariff, or an excise tax?
If proximate, couldn't you set up a place at a house or business on the US side to arrange a pick up? Or does it have to be declared at the border? The northern border is very porous from what I hear.

As have I.
And I don't need anything else.
Just this once though, since the pieces are so small, I thought I might reason with them. The insulators are the size of your thumbnail. Nope.
Since then I looked on DCs site.
Their shipping policy is a minimum of almost 9 bucks.
So, that's it, the world is crazy and us loyal consumers have bend over and take it.
Maybe I can make a new insulator.
The local Auto Zone will now price match Rock Auto for me. I needed a random wiper switch yesterday. (12 volt conversion on a '52 Ford) The cheapest one we found was $25. He price matched Rock Auto for $17 and no shipping!

It's mostly the shipping costs that get us, all the good stuffs made in the south. There also is border dutys and believe it or not the border Is pretty tight. If you don't claim something and get caught your in deep crap. That's not really an option for me since I live about 7hrs away from the border. It's actually better than it used to be. At least there's a few performance shops around now that get a little better deal.
i agree totaly any thing shipped to canada is usualy in the 40 to 50 range with usps priority mail but that includes border costs i will not use ups, fedex etc as that is where we pay through the nose with brokerage, gst, etc, etc etc and rock auto pi##es me off big time with their a,b,and c locations i phoned, emailed to no avail about shipping the parts i need to 1 warehouse to be shipped in 1 shippment to canada got that same snotty attitude and i could not get past the order desk to talk to the upper ups but what they dont relize is the canadian economy is strong, people have disposable income to spend and there IS a market here if they played it right so like what was said before i now buy most of my parts localy when i can
Shipping is expensive though. When I sell on ebay I just guess the shipping cost. I'd says 78% of the time I guess low and have to eat some of the shipping. And yet my shipping rating on ebay is quite low. People are unhappy with the shipping charges even though I'm paying some of it!
I hear you guys. I live in Canada, south western Ontario to be exact. Tim Meyer shipped me a set of his cam bearings for FREE. UPS charged me $40. U.S to get them here. Needless to say I WILL not deal with them again. I try to deal with Companies that ship free but, even they are getting to be few and far between.I have even gone to friend that are visiting the U.S. to bring back some parts for me, but, that to is fast becoming a rare commodity. As we all say "what are ya gonna do?"
I ocassionally sell parts on Ebay and every now and then, somebody from Canada buys the part. But because the shipping is so crazy expensive, I no longer include selling to Canada. The outrageous cost that I have to post on my Ebay ad, turns folks off and it makes it look like I'm trying to make a profit off of the shipping when I'm not. As a matter of fact, I always lose money when I sell something in Canada because I have to eat part of the shipping. It's a real shame and I just don't get it?
I don't blame companies for charging minimum shipping charges, but for really small items that don't weigh anything and could be shipped in a USPS envelope, charging $7.00 or more is kinda ridiculous. But, those companies have to pay wages. It would be nice if more companies offered "free shipping" on orders over a certain amount. Than I figure what I spend on driving 20-30 miles to parts store to get a small part. My car gets about 20-25 MPG so at today's fuel prices here, it would cost me $3.59 to get that part, plus my time. If I drove my pickup that gets 10 or less MPG, than I'm paying over $10.00 just to drive and get a part plus time. So, I have to plan on "bulking" my shopping unless it's something I NEED now. Otherwise, I can wait a day or two and get the part from a local store depending on if they have it at a local warehouse where there is no shipping.
Not sure how it works overseas, but how can I order something on ebay for $2.00 from China and that includes shipping. It may take 30 days and there is a small chance I won't ever see the item, but I can get my money back through Ebay if I don't receive it. (my wife has). I shipped a brake pedal to Canada and it cost me somewhere around $40 to ship it.
