Early the other day on a cold snowy morning, I turned my **** for for 4wd over to what I thought was 4HI, to get me the parking lot and how the plowers corned everyone in, my steering wheel blocked my vision of the gauge cluster. I noticed the engine pull harder but it was cold with everything blowing didn't really think anything. Got on to more dry pavement and switch back to AWD and as I did that my eyes caught the gauges and I was in 4LOW, all of sudden I hear a loud bang that jolted my car from the rear axle area. I'm still moving, thinking to myself don't think that was the proper way of coming out of 4LOW (since I didn't even realize I was in 4LOW), now I'm stuck in 4HI. Tried every combo of getting out of it, pull the fuse to the transfer and nothing. I'm guessing something fried in the transfer case. I have access to a lift and mechanic savy people but just need to know what to look for. And if its something that can be fixed cheaply. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks in advance.
Have you tried putting in neutral and changing it from 4 LO TO 4HI . There is a motor that I had go bad when the wife got hit in the rear wheel in 4 wheel drive and it would make a loud thunk afterwards changing from 4 wd to 2wd and awd
