Crew cabs were only made in certain plants from what I've researched so far. So even if there was a plant in CA crews still were custom ordered out of another plant. my info I posted above. my 71 was made in Canada
There are no specific Crew Cab parts listed in Ford Truck Parts Catalogs until 1973. AFAIK, all mid 1965's, 1966/79 Crews were assembled at the Oakville Ontario Canada Truck Assembly Plant.
1961/1980: The 5th digit of the VIN is the assembly plant code: C = Oakville.
Will someone please help me on this one? If both anwilliams55 and crazed87bronco both have 66 crews, then why the different cabs? One has a step and the other not.I know that I've seen some f350's with the step cab in 66 but these both look to be half tons.Is it just me or did Ford swap some cabs like they did the wrongbeds?
Mine was a factory f250 4x4 66 crew which would have the step on the inside. I think all 4x4's had the step but don't quote me on that. His is a 65 factory 2wd f100 from what the vin was decoded as. F100 crews are more rare then f250 and f350's from what I can tell

Cab step: 1961/64 F100/1100 / 1963/69 N/NT/T500/1100 / 1965 F100/250 4WD / 1965/66 F350/1100 / 1966 F250 4WD / 1967/69 F800/1000.

Giving credit where credit is due: Crew Cab info in post 10 and 2nd/3rd lines in post 17: I typed all this info originally.
inre to 1965 FoMoCo Crew Cabs being assembled in Michigan. I'd read that somewhere, but had no proof until I read post 1 in this thread.
Now the question is, were 1966 Crew Cabs also assembled in Michigan?
