hi i have a 2000 expy 4.6 rwd with 163,000 miles
i am getting a vibration when im accelerating, i am pretty sure its the trany,
i have put the car in neutral and gave it some gas and the engine runs smooth
but as soon as i put it in drive and give it some gas it starts vibrating.
also the vibrating is worse with overdrive off.
i dont have a code reader on hand, but i will go and have it read.
i just remembered a trick that a mechanic once told me he said to keep one foot on the break place the car in drive and give it some gas while holding the brake.
i just tried it and i am getting the same vibration at around 2000 rpm so i think it might be a miss.
ill keep you posted.
is there any way that a coil over plug can go bad slowly instead of just going bad at once?
i had it scanned an there where no codes,
i tried unplugging the cops one by one to see if i could pinpoint which one is causing the problem but with every single one i noticed a change in rpm,
so i though ok ill try the injectors but the same thing.
then i took it on a 50mile trip and did notice a slight miss every now and then usually around 2000rpm.
has anyone experienced this before?

Kerim,
It's a lot more work but you might want to pull each cop off the plugs and check the boots for cracks. You can get a plug that will miss periodically because the spark sometimes will work it's way thru the boot and ground it off the plug hole sides. It will only be noticible at idle or lower rpm's.
Put dielectric grease on each boot liberally when putting back on or replace any bad boots.
While you're in there, change the plugs too.
i have replaced all of the cop ( ebay cop) and plugs 60,000 miles ago,
i think i will pull all of the cop and check the boots to make sure that they are still good.
thank you
