Vibration when shifting

1998 Expy EB 4WD. When I accelerate from a stop, when the tranny shifts, i can feel a series of "bumps" almost like the vibration notches along side of the highway...

It's not all the time, it's in the morning, after a normal warmup, but still cold, and I notice it alot when I am going from stop to start

...0mph red light...green light, accel...1,2,3,5,mph...bump, bump, bump...slight jerk or pickup, then it goes fine. Then the same thing goint into the next gear and then nothing from that on up.

Never happens on a the down shift. Usually only three or four quick "bumps".

I can make it NOT happen. I am kinda short, and can barely reach the petals. I like the seat all the way back, and to relax while I drive. I'm not an "unsafe" woman driver, but I do use the tippy toes to hit the petals. I thought maybe I'm not driving like a "Man", so I moved the seat up and hit the gas like I guess a guy would - lots of gas - and it did not do it. I had to be aware of the problem to try this though. I have driven my fiance's 98 expy xlt many many times, and I drive it my tippy way, and it does not seem to have my issue.

I change the trans fluid when I am supposed to, I have 132k miles (his has 180k!!) and I checked it today, and it seemed to be okay on the fluid levels, and I would see a leak where I Park I guess.

I love the Expedition too much to have her trans go now. Any thoughts? Any gear heads run up on this one?

I flushed and replaced at 80k (bought used) and now at 132. My fiance has same car xlt not EB and he says every 60k to flush. His is perfect, and he thinks I come with a curse to automobiles. So I should flush the tranny now at 50k?

The tranny flush cured my shimmer while shifting as well. It's recommended on the EB for every 30K but this one was done @ 60K due to the vehicle being used when I bought it. I am thinking since it never tows anything that I might try to wait till 120K before flushing it again.

Not sure this will cure your bump problem but depending on miles it may be a place to start.
