If it is the Theft light then it is probably a PATS issue, for a remote start this has to be bypassed form it to work correctly, when you insert the key the theft light should stay stead for 2-3 seconds and extinguish. If it blinks rapidly then the PATS transponder in the steering column is not getting receiving the signal from the key and passing it into the PATS system which is then tied directly the GEM. If you pop the large cover off under the dash where the fuse panel is at there is several connecters to the right of steering column and there should be a plug with four wires Tx Rx GND and 12V ign wires, Tx and Rx is what a bypass connects into look for splice anywhere here. Otherwise the plastic shroud on the steering column and those four wires run all the way up there. If these have been spliced that is where you are losing it momentarily. If there is a part problem not wiring the transponder can be replaced but the PATS module is linked to the GEM and a dealer has to do some programming. Also if you have a key that has been copied I would try to reprogram the key, search for a step by step guide. But if it works most of the time that cant really be the issue. The redneck way if you still have problems is getting one of the bypass modules which are only like $20 and bypassing it all the time, which of course would eliminate the Passive Anti Theft System but at least you would not be stuck somewhere. Also then you can get any key that fits the ignition like the $5 Wal-Mart key.

Rainmaker68 thanks for the input. I am really interested in how to bypass the PATS system but was told by the dealer you couldn't.

Ebay I think I got the XK04 xpresskit for less than $20 it didnt work like it was suppose to so I did not go through the programming instructions just plugged it in as soon as I turned the key on. The chip inside runs the input and ouputs the oscialltions from the PATS and sends it back to the other side therefore bypassing the PATS tranceiver all the time. Which is wha the Transceiver does when it detects the code on the correct key.

I wish I could just spend some time the transceiver module and hardwire that signal thus bypassing the need for a bypass. Ha

A slow-flashing THEFT light is not a problem.

If it never goes out, and now won't run is a big problem. It started once and made it about 2 miles then died. Theft light flashing away the whole time. It has been slowly flashing for days and will not clear. My keys are Ford Keys, I only have 100K on it and other than the rear bumper sensors not working, has been very reliable. I ran into something similar with my GT500. All I had to do was get out lock and unlock the vehicle and it started. It was under warranty and the dealer said my alarm was triggered and the slow flashing was to tell me an "event" occurred in FORD speak..I have heard and read horror stories of others getting bills in the thousands from a dealer. I have been reading posts for days. Any help would be apprecieated.

You should start your own thread so people can address your issue in particular.

I had some blinking theft light issues that were being caused by a weak/faulty battery.

Have you checked your battery recently?

I ended up with having to replace the Batteries, Alternator and the Cam Shaft Position Sensor. I guess there was Two different things going on. First we addressed the weak Batteries due to the Alt not charging properly. I think that was making the Pats system flash the Theft light. I would start with the Charging system and work from there.
