If it went in the shop and just had a Bad Oil Cooler and NONE of these Codes I suspect they came from the work done

Kinda Unprofessional of the shop to let it Go Like that but what do ya do

I dont Buy a Tunner Glitch

Since you just had Majoir work done I wonder about the IPR from this type work they get trash on the IPR Screen this might cause the P2284 IDK

!

OverREV is a Classic symtom of a Plugged IPR SCreen

Hope they replaced the HPO SCreen under the Oil Cooler too

The P0401 is something eles

Im thinking you have 2 problems

I wasn't fully convinced tuner either. But you know how computers can be and I hoping it would be worth a try at the least.

KOEO
0 ICP
.22 ICPv
11 IPR

IDLE
580 ICP
.81 ICPv
20 IPR

1500 rpms,
820 ICP
1.82 ICPv
15 IPR (is that drop normal)

Close to 2000 rpm the motor sails away uncontollably and will set the P2284 code and OBDII light on dash. Then the ICP is 875 and IPR 30.6 @ idle. If i have been driving over 2000 rpm and the code appears and park it at do not shut it off and let it idle the ICP is like 1387 idle and IPR 36. Then if i shut it off wait a few secs and start it they go back to normal. Rev it or drive it past 2k rpm it all goes crazy again.

Looked up baro sensor and it is inside dash under steering column. No way shop would have touched that. Also I've never really checked baro readings before but i seem to think from scrolling thru sg in past it always read 28.8 ?

Thanks for hanging in on this man.

looks to me like the P2284 is from a Plugged IPR Screen

The shops at Fault on this one

when changing a oil cooler it must be kept spotless even lint from a rag will collect on IPR screen

The HPOP is gear driven so the IPR Is the drain to control pressure well once the screen plugs it cant drain and so it will surge

Your IPR Reading at 1500rpm being 15% I can see the PCM is trying to Cut Back the HPO pressure

If you keep driving it the IPR will eventually Blow Out and you will be on side of the road

I think this is the cause of the P2284 DTC

The P0401 is something eles

Ok then. THANKS BENNY and Cheezit. I will have to wait til Monday. I've taken notes. The owner did say he'd stand by me and his work. Hope he's true to his word.

I will re-post.

Sincere Thanks Again,

Ok Great thats Good to Know I thought there might be a X-Gauge Code Glitch

I just went threw Most my SGII Gauge Codes for BARO and Specificaly lookeed at the RXF# I didnt see any that was the same RXF as 04badford is using rxf # 046285140640

This is what I posted

Barometric Pressure (PSI)
TXD: 07E0221442
RXF: 046285140642
RXD: 3010
MTH: 001D00500000
NAM: BAR

As far as what I am running on my own truck I would have check and report back. FWIW I know mine reports in BARO In PSI

I also found these BARO Codes

------------------------------------------------------------------------

BAR 07E0221442 046285140642 3010 001D00500000 Barometric Pressure (kPa(PSI)). Alternate to BMP

Key On = 96.5 (14)

Low Idle = 96.5 (14)

High Idle = 96.5 (14)

Operating Range = 50

120 (7.3 17.4)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BMP 07E0221127 045285110627 3008 003100500000 Barometric Press (inHg)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

these 2 below are From SGII Website under the CANSF

Barometric Pressure 07DF0133 04418533 2808 000100010000 kPa kiloPascals

Barometric Pressure 07DF0133 04418533 2808 006400450000 PSI PSI
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I might be using this one for BARO Below it was one of the first ones

Barometric Pressure

TXD: 07E0221127

RXF: 045285110627

RXD: 3008

MTH: 003100500000

theres a good chance the p0401 is also caused by it too. poor idle contol as well as serging in rpm has a big effect on egr function. fix the other code first, clear this one and drive it to see what happens.

When I take my truck to shop how do I know for fact screens are plugged ? And possibly from poor oil cooler handling, but would the IPR and oil pump been touched ? Could the dirty or collapsed screen been bound to happen and the oil cooler replacement accelerated it ? Would it be common practice to always check and/or replace IPR screen when doing coolers ?

I understand values checked point to this. Whats the verdict on 28.8 baro ? I saw the new tx #s for sg and will x gauge it first thing i can.

In regard to above questions facts are this:
Truck went to shop because i was getting white smoke/degas loss and wet oily egr.
I asked shop to diagnosis ICP/IPR, scan with computer, balance test injectors, check standpipe dummy plugs ...anything necessary since they would be in there. Also asked to ensure all wiring and harness properly routed and fastened. I had this all written on MY notes. Owner asked if i had any problems and i said no, dummy plugs and standpipe done 12/11. Just wanted my bases covered. He seemed to understand. IS ALL THAT A NORMAL PROCESS WHEN DOING EGR/OIL COOLERS ?

Truck had ZERO codes, CEL, or pending before or any previous time before work. WOULD IT BE NORMAL PROTOCOL FOR A SHOP TO RUN DIAGNOSIS BEFORE STARTING WORK ?

I found my oil dipstick broke at collar and 3 unmounted wires so far. Sounds careless. I'm sure the shop can do proper work but I'm not happy to have this come up and want to make sure I am right. Very nervous.

Sorry to be long,
Tim

Shure the IPR screen could been on last leg but I doubt it

The thing with it oil cooler rplacement is there is a Big gush of oil that comes with it when oil cooler is Pulled out so if the valley of engine is dirty and the dirt gets into oil system

Most common mistake is when they wipe the Valley where the oil cooler sits the lint from rag or junk goes to the HPOP and collects junk on IPR Screen

since IPR is a Drain with screen plugged it cant drain properly and will surge or Blow IPR Out

Wether shop admits or not Im saying there fault

Its a Rookie mistake and I see it alot on here but folks here majority are owners and first time doing oil cooler

the IPR Screen is about size of a Dime and the mesh/screen is Fine like your Screens in the windows of a house so dont take much junk at all to clog IPR Screeen

IPR needs Pulled and inspected

The other scren under oil cooler usually rips and lets trash threw there is an updated screen for this BUT this screen dont normaly cause problems I have only saw 1 here they said was full of junk

Hope they changed screen under cooler but you could get by

Its the IPR Screen that problem

As promised I am giving results. YEP. Benny called it ! You are King Benny.

Shop replaced IPR screen, correctly routed the wires and replaced the dipstick. It has been two days maybe 80 miles and no codes or issues. Truck in stock tune cause I'm due for smog . Ughh CA.

So far so good. Is it appropriate to post names of repair facilities ?

benny you need to check your scan gauge formula.
"hg x 2 = psi (pretty close anyway). so I suspect an issue with the calc more then a baro 15psi off and its not the first time i have seen it from this calc. but i dont know much about the scan gauge so I could be completly wrong.
