Hi all. My 1996 Ford F250 is using about 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles. The engine has 350,000 miles on it. Should I be concerned about the oil consumption? Thank you in advance for your help.

 

Given the miles it seems ok to me. Run it till it won't run anymore.

If it were a lower mile motor I'd say it was high but you're rings have to be shot by now.

 

Next time you change the oil substitute 1 qt of oil for lucas oil stabilizer. It will reduce oil consumption. Really, it does work.

 

Most manufactures actually state that a quart of oil every 1000-2000 miles is considered "acceptable" - even on new motors. With 350,000 miles on that engine, it's not really unusual.

Not really a big deal if the engine still has decent power.
