I am not seeing any oil consumption on mine. I have 12K Miles on it now. Changed oil for the first time at 7,300. I would have this checked out by the dealer, it sounds abnormal to me with only 7,500 miles on the engine.
I change oil every 5000 miles and have never had to add between changes in 20,000 miles so far.. A good diesel tech once told me that diesels should use a little oil in order to be lubricated properly. The question to ask your dealer is "how much is normal"?
You should at least get it checked out by the dealer. That way it will be documented by them and you can establish a pattern if it gets worse. The last thing you want is for them to say that you didn't report it and then get denied warranty. CYA
I've tried to check my oil 20 times. That ridiculous excuse for a dip-stick cannot be read so I gave up. I change the oil every 5k-7k and call it good. Even the techs at the dealer say it's a POS.
What are you guys seeing for oil consumption? I haven't been towing much recently but in the last 2000 miles I've burned a quart of oil.
Cause for concern? The truck has 7500 miles on it.
At 7500 miles your truck shouldnt be burning any oil at all.

Thats a good one LOL. If thats the case, I'm burning a gallon every 10-11 miles in the city.

That's really good advice.

They must be using dipsticks that were left over from the 6.4 era. It was close to impossible to get a good reading with the 6.4 also, but Senix had a method that works pretty good.
