I was towing a trailer for my dad when i noticed plumes of blueish white smoke billowing out from under my 88' f350 7.3l turbo diesel.
got to his house and popped the hood, was able to put my hand on the valve covers without getting burned. shut the engine off and BOOM! fire, luckily i had mounted a fire extinguisher very accessible and so did my dad and we got the fire out. it was a puddle of oil under the truck which we determined to be coming out of the 1/8" nylon engine oil pressure gauge line. any ideas why it burst?
Nylon is notorious for failing. Same thing happened to my dads truck several years ago. He replaced it with copper. Could opt for digital gauge in place of the mechanical/nylon/copper line route.
