EFI 460 surging or missing on acceleration
gears. This engine only has 10,000 miles on it since a rebuild when it got a tuneup including plugs, wires, MSD 6 ignition, K&N, etc... It starts fine, idles fine,
isn't running hot nor cold, and seems to run fine most
of the time except when accerating in 2nd and 3rd gears, and possibly also in OD... The "check engine"
light is NOT on, which is interesting... Any ideas..?
I'd like to not start throwing $$ at replacing sensors
if at all possible... Timing is set to 10 BTDC...
First off, I would check the plugs and wires. Make sure that they are all good. My 460 was missing under acceleration and I ended up having a few bad wires, and one that was totally fried. Couldn't hear it at idle, but when I got going, the radio antenna started vibrating funny, kind of like a sine wave. I replaced the wires and plugs and voila, the miss that was causing the antenna to wiggle funny disappeared and the thing runs great now.
I know you say that the wires are new, but it might not hurt to check them. I think the resistence should be between 8k-12k ohms.
Good luck.
and checked all the plug wires too, Accel 8.8MM ...
6 of the wires tested to 1100 Ohms, and 2 wires
were 1430 + Ohms... At any rate, the miss is now gone and my mileage and power seems to have improved a little too...
