egr question

Hello everyone

I an new to the ford forum. I bought a 78 f150 with a 400 for a project. I don't know anything about the older stuff so I have been reading alot of the threads on this forum. My question is, the egr valve on my truck has been blocked off by a screw in the vacuum hose. What is the best thing to do with the egr valve. I am not worried about the emissions so I don't mind putting a block off plate in the place of the egr valve.

You should hook it back up. Running an EGR engine with the EGR valve disabled can harm the engine (dieseling, pre-detonation) if the carburetion and timing curve are not adjusted to compensate for the altered combustion chemistry.
