i was wondering if i needed a egr delete kit if i was to cut off the muffler and straight pipe it and if its good for the truck i have a 07 f350 outlaw 6.0l and so far everything is stock on it
egt= exhaust gas temp.
really not an issue so much if you are not tuned. but once you tune it is a must to watch those temps and not let them get too high, i use 1200 degress as my cutoff but some go slightly higher
oh ok thanks and yeah i have a 07 f350 lariat outlaw
i just got it, so far its been a great truck for me but is ther something i need to know about it???
oh ik that truck is my babie lol and im about to put a k&N cold air intake on it to along with straight piping it and i herd to that b4 putting a chip or tuning it i need to stud the piston heads on the truck is that true
no k&n. stay stock. aftermarket intakes like that are not as good as stock. stock filter is good up till 500 hp or so i believe.
stay away from edge tuners, and i wouldnt stud untill you need too and then do egr delete then.
spend alot of time reading on here and asking questions before you do anything. lot of good info on here. lots of knowledge and experience lurk lol. read the tech folder and get some sort of guages to monitor things like ur oil temp, coolant temp and ficm voltage. sgII or dashdaq are most popular choices for monitoring those items
If you want a straight pipe I would get a nice 4 inch system, but you could get pretty much the same affect by just cutting off the muffler. Probably close too the same sound, not quite but close, but you wouldn't get the same flow/performance as a system. A true straight pipe is no cat (catalytic converter) and no muffler. Depending on if you have emissions check in your area or not you can get rid of the cat otherwise you need it for emissions check. I would get gauges or a monitoring tool like a scangauge 2 to monitor important measures like EGT, boost, trans temp, etc. It's not necessary, but gauges are a nice peace of mind to keep an eye on your truck. Head studs are not necessary for stock but are definitely a necessity if you are going to tune it. Some can get away without head studs but I wouldn't risk it. An EGR Delete is a good idea on any 6.0 but isn't really needed until you start adding a good amount of power. If you are set on getting an aftermarket intake I would go with the S&B one. It is definitely the best quality and closest filtration wise to stock. Like stated before the stock intake is good till 500 hp but still wont hurt.
Sorry for the book . Just trying to give you as much info as possible.
Oops. Sorry.. Nope I just looked it up, it doesn't monitor EGTs. I thought it did but I guess not. Sorry again. But I know the Edge CTS will though and it works just as good as the SGII, or you could just get an EGT gauge along with SGII.
Yea I got SGII already. I actually just started a thread cause it seems my rig has the flu. But when things settle out I'm gonna get a pyrometer. Probly go isspro
