can i run my superduty without a muffler, and not adding the extra straight pipe, or will the fumes do something to something, just curious, i also hear people recommending an egr delete after straight pipe install, why is that?
you would prob puke yourself dead, before any toxins actually built up. by that i mean that most untreated diesel exhaust is that unpleasant to breathe. egr delete has nothing to do with straight piping other than being another mod. just the next progression.
straight pipes on turbo diesels don't have to be excessively annoying. don't leave it idle outside your neighbors window, just get in and go. if you keep a light foot it isn't so much louder just a different kind of sound. don't be flooring it in residential neighborhoods, really there is no need to be going that fast where kids could be running in the streets. save it for under bridges and in tunnels
True, but most of the straight pipers around here missed that part of "common courtesy" school.
Those and the Hardly Ableson crowd are really starting to irk me. Full throttle on open pipes at 1:30 am? In a residential neighborhood? Really?
And I am one of those who has modified every single vehicle I own! But I always draw the line at pissing off everyone just because I like something.
My neighbors don't mind the noise. I can here my truck in the house when it starts and its not that loud. My Harley is one of the loudest bikes in this area and i don't get any complaints when leaving before dawn or getting home in the middle of the night. So i guess it all depends where you live.
As for a straight pipe on trucks, I have to ask again, why?
That's the thing, really. On a diesel it isn't going to add power, isn't going to improve mileage, isn't going to do anything of value except shout "look at me look at me look at me".
If that's your goal, have at it.

Maybe they are all scared of the biker down the street!
