Hello,
I have an 86 EFI ford Truck. The other day i came from work and next morning was going to start the truck and all it would do is turn over then the battery went dead. Then another battery went dead. I found the starter was shorted to ground. Since then i have replaced. the starter, the EEC relay, the high pressure pump, the fuel pump relay, the TFI, the rotor. I checked the fuel rail and found no gas coming in, i have spark and the pump is putting out fuel.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
I'm confused as to what your problem is. Did you replace all that stuff in an attempt to fix your problem? Or, did the problem come after replacing all or some of those parts?
Kinda sounds like you're talking about more than one problem... battery goes dead, fuel not at the fuel rail but apparently it's pumping fuel.....?
I took the test plug out to check for fuel at the rail, i changed the TPI out the battery then it seemed (the battery) to hold a charge. I can hear the fuel pump kick it then it shuts off. Also i took the fuel line off on the front of the filter and fuel gushed out i did the by pass at the DPI and got the pumps to run,,,,,still no fuel?

I' confused... what is a TPI? And how does it relate to the battery?

What is a DPI?
Not trying to be a jerk, I'm just not sure what you're trying to say. I'd venture to say most people feel the same way, looking at the responses this thread has gotten.
Its the direct plug in to by pass the fuel system for testing otherwise known as a FP diagnostic lead. TPI is referred to in the Haynes book, its the distributor module. The pressure is O at the rail.i have sent it to the Ford Dealer, evidently there was a recall on this fuel system the truck has only 116k on it must have been missed. Thanks for your help.
