Chevy, though. Just a project I can turn into a street rod. Runs and drives just fine, seller wanted a motorcycle instead. $1500.00
178k miles on this 1992. Drop it, street racing rims and tires, new hot rod motor (350 possibly bored .30 over) and tranny, racing gears, paint and some new interior.
What I'm envisioning for it would be a combination between these..
To answer your question, it's a Chev, remember? The have just a scant few patterns, vs. the thousands for Fords. Heck this says the Duramax runs the same pattern as the 4.3 and the SBC/BBC etc. Just turn the injection up to 30,000 psi and a few other small tweeks and you can have an oilburner hotrod.....

20k for that 572, huh? I was thinking maybe 4k for a motor max. Thanks though, I'll research that 383 of which I did call my non diesel mechanic and asked if that 383 would fit to which he replied, "All day long."
I'd feel better about a runner as well if I went that route. Here's an interesting entry article into the world of crate motors. Any experience with these?"
Well, if you consider 430 horse adequate, I suppose you'll be happy with that motor.....
Lmao! no, no I don't!!, but on the same note this is my going to be my very first hot rod attempt if you can even call it that. I'm only looking at this point to have something road worthy, rumbling thunder, do some burn outs. I'm not looking to get arrested racing at 2 in the morning on the public street (although the chances of that possibly happening will be present for at east a little while. )
and this is not a short term project as I'm not that kind of a speed demon, just something to keep my attention on, a new found hobby if you will.
i'll be needing a tranny as well. Recommend anything in particular?
I put together a mild 289, another 4 cylinder motor, various bikes. Wrenched on the old 390 and 292 and farm stuff. Trans change in the Mustang. Other than that, I'm an internet gasbag who reads a lot.
With the Chevy stuff, it's all known stuff. Your particulars, like linkage and accessory drives, cooling, exhaust etc, are all a matter of the proper donor car or selecting from a million sources for Chevy stuff.
With that much power, you might need some drive shaft and rear suspension work.
Not that I know too much at all about any of this, in fact the fact that it was merely stated that these are regular drag racing trannies is all it took to pique my interest, but the Powerglide sounds good to me. I'm liking the fact that this is all shaping up to be bolt on without much effort, too.
