Just bought an 05 F250. Ordered an EGR delete, head gaskets, and new ARP head studs. I need to know how much time this job will take, any special tools required, and any additional work I should do while the motor is apart.
Before you start a good idea would be too take a scan gauge II and check your ECT/EOT deltas to see the health of your oil cooler or even better yet just install a new oil cooler while you are there. If you do decide to do the oil cooler it is a good idea to do a coolant flush and clean with VC-9 before you get to it. As far as tools go you will need a long t40 torqs bit for the injector hold down bolt and a regular torqs bit set for the rest of the torqs fasteners, a torque wrench that will torq as low as 10 ft/lbs and one that will torque as high as 250 ft/lbs ( for the stud nuts ), you will also need a 10 MM hex bit for the stand pipes and dummy plugs ( you should do the upgraded stand pipes and dummy plugs while you are there and you will need a 12 MM hex bit for the updated plugs and pipes )
