I recently put an allience 7.3 powerstroke reman in my F-350 I've got about 5K miles on it now .While driving it today it started making a loud scraping and knocking noise. After checking everything that i thought it could be I still have no idea what it is. It only does it below 1000 RPMs, once it gets above that point the noise goes away and the engine runs out great. Can anyone help me or at least get me started in the right direction
Just out of curiosity, what caused the demise of your first engine? Almost sounds like it's not getting enough oil pressure at low RPMs, but that's just a WAG.
I'm going to move this one to the 7.3L Powerstroke forum, the folks down there will have a better idea.
Do you have white smoke below 1000 rpm's? Worst case scenario, you have or had an over fueling issue, which could cause wet stacking. Did your reuse your injectors?

The first engine blew a head gasket and i got the reman well worth the money.

I dont have any smoke except for black at high rpms and the reman came with new injectors. I have never heard the term wet stacking could you explain further
We had a PSD with bad injectors that kept dribbling fuel when they weren't supposed to. The excess fuel when the engine was shut off would go down the cylinder walls, and soak into the rings of the piston. When you started up, we had a loud knock, and a ton of white smoke. When it warmed up, the smoke was 99% gone, and so was the knock. With the engine getting warm, the diesel soaked into the rings started burning, and blew the top 1/4 inch off the top of the piston, making for a bunch of shrapnel, and melting what was left of the top of the piston. Without the white smoke, I don't think you have a wet stacking issue. Could it possibly be coming from the tranny or maybe the flywheel torque converter area? When you have the knock, is the engine running rough?

The engine doesnt seem to be running rough just terribly noisy it still runs out great
And there's the click all by itself... it sounds like somebody rapping on injector bracket with a big Crescent wrench. That one is a loose bolt and bad things follow soon.

What color is the smoke? White is usually un-burnt fuel, black is lots of fuel usually at WOT or when going up a grade, Blue/grey is oil. Were new injector O rings used? FWIW what oil and filter are you using? Have you checked fuel pressure? It could be cheap reman injectors making lots of noise.
