I have aftermarket Nerf bars from MAAP on my 03. They were installed when I got the truck. Their OK in the summer, but I HATE them in the winter. The step inserts gets slick as ***** and a couple of people have almost put a leg through them. They also love to collect and hold snow and ice. I would not buy them again.
Hopefully, the factory once have a better step area and are not open enough to stick a leg through.
Mine have been fine in the winter, I've yet to slip off them. I always wear Chippewa boots with very deep tread so that may help. Not sure how a kid woul do on them though

BuiltFordTough,
What width spacer's did you end up going with to use those Harley Rims? I really love the look of those new Harley Rims, but have been reluctant to use the spacers, as that nearly doubles the cost to convert over... But really like what you did with your Ex!
