351 Windsor Not Starting
Hello,
Im trying to buy a 1990 F-150 with a 351 Windsor, however the engine won't start and I don't want to buy the truck until I hear that engine run. Heres the details.
- Tank has gas
- Fuel pump is operational
- Fuel is getting to the rail
- All plugs are sparking
- Tried the position sensor in the transmission, no change
- Fuel pump relay was replaced, no change
- Belt is off (dont think this will keep it from starting though)
- Has new distributor cap, plug wires and plugs
- Engine is EFI
Seller says the engine was running fine, then it started acting up for a while, the truck was put in storage, now it doesnt start at all.
Engine just turns and turns but will not catch. Someone said it could be the EEC relay, has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions?
Thanks

Can also ask the computer what it thinks is going on:

I will certainly do this procedure. Thanks for the link.

Noid lights are test lights that plug into the harness in place of the fuel injector plug to see if the computer is firing the injector.
I would check everything else first, but I had a pickup a few years ago that the computer was not firing the injectors. I wound up replacing the computer. I believe (if I remember right) the injectors are hooked to a key on power and the computer controls them by grounding them to turn them on.
