Hi ,Im rebuilding my 1975 highboy steering column, turn signal switch as well.I am using original connector.I have the column out of the truck and on my dining room table. Before I pull, push, and tug wires out of connector,is there a tool that would make and easier exit for replacement,,,any thoughts on replacement much appreciated.I am going with JBG oem manual trans turn signal also a 3 spoke wheel and chrome horn thing that i found in my travels,,,I think ill likeit thankyou
Each terminal of the plug has a little tab or finger that locks it in place, just gently pry the tab away from the terminal and pull the wire out of the plug.
A couple of things, make a chart showing what wire goes where and second, tie a strong string or wire to the end of the wires so when you pull the wires through, you'll have something to pull the harness back through the column.
Also to reinstall the wires, just stick them in and push until the finger locks it in place again.
"Look into the plug, there is a red plastic wedge. Pull the wedge out, each wire has a little plastic finger that holds the terminal in place. Use a small screw driver, punch, awl or even a nail push the finger away from the terminal and pull the wire out of the plug.
To reinstall them just push the wire back in until the finger locks it in place then reinstall the red wedge."

I wrote that a few hours ago and had the plugs mixed up. The one with the wedge is the plug that is in the main harness, the one that the switch plugs into.
On the t/s switch there isn't a wedge to remove.
"I wrote that a few hours ago and had the plugs mixed up." I just removed the red wedge which will allow me to disconnect wires to pull through column to replace steering column wiring in my 75 manual HB,I probably worded it wrong, not the first time
The plug shell is p/n D2OZ-14489-A, this is where it can get a little confusing. Sometimes the third digit is entered into inventory as "O" the letter and sometimes it's entered as "0" the number.
Dennis Carpenter has 6 as D2 'zero' Z (704) 786-8139
Green Sales has 7 under D2'alpha O' (800)543-4959
Dobbs Ford, Memphis, TN has 2 alpha O (866) 219-5755
