Vin decode, 11 digit???
F37ZCGG3026
-or-
F37LCGG3026 (doubtful)
The fourth character is unclear, it COULD be an "L", but I'm 99% sure it is indeed a "Z". Based on what little I know, I suspect perhaps it was a cab and chassis truck and maybe 80-84. Can anyone help? Please and thanks as always!
Not that it matters much as without a title you have figure out what you're going to do. If it's for a cab swap then just use the recipients information. If it's for a custom then lookup your states info on registering custom builds. That is if it's going to be registered. If it's a dedicated off road truck who cares...

Edit: Maybe NumberDummy will come along but I've done a cursory search. My book only includes 150's and 250's but the F3(x) looks like it would be a 1980 F350 cab. The "Z" corresponds to the 400 v8, "C" to Ontario Canada plant and "GG3026" is the build number.
Looking to make a decent farm truck out of it, mainly to haul hay with (SRW might not make much sense, but oh well), but maybe something a little unique, too. Just got back from a road trip for a pair of '82 flareside fenders and rear bumper...how many flaresides have you ever seen in 8' with a gooseneck (post '79)?? LoL

but I suspect otherwise.I just got the number from the tag on the dash board and got this:
F37ZCGG3026 Correct
F37LCGG3026 (Impossible)
F37 = F350 2WD Cab & Chassis.
Z = 400 2V
C = Oakville Ontario Canada Truck Assembly Plant.
GG3026 = 1980
----------------
F37LCGG3026
L = 460 4V, not available in 1980/82 F250/350's, E250/350's only.
---------------------------------------------------------------
1980: 11 digit VIN = Warranty Plate riveted to left door face below the latch.
Has the VIN, wheelbase, codes for the color, type/GVW, body, trans, axle, actual GVWR, actual year and DSO code.
1980: Safety Standard Certification Label glued to B pillar, has VIN, production date, front/rear GVW's and etc printed on it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1981 thru today: 17 digit VIN, no Warranty Plate, all codes are printed on the Certification Label.
If this truck was a 1981/82 F350 400, the first 8 digits would be: 1FDJF37Z (400 cancelled after 1982).
If this truck was a 1983/87 F350 460 4V, the first 8 digits of the 17 digit VIN would be: 1FDJF37L
1FD = FoMoCo USA incomplete vehicle / J = 9,000-10,000 lbs. GVWR / F37 = F350 2WD Cab & Chassis / Z = 400 2V // L = 460 4V
9th digit = varies, is usually a number: Check Digit, FoMoCo use only / 10th digit = Year code / 11th digit = Assembly Plant code.
12th thru 17th digits = Numerical Sequence of Assembly. Begins w/a letter, followed by 5 numbers: The vehicles specific serial number.
btw: Passenger Cars have 17 digit VIN's beginning in 1980.
f100beatertruck; C&C is my being too lazy to type Cab & Chassis, sorry for the confusion.
1984: Everything else came with a hydraulic clutch.
Cab & Chassis: No "back of cab" equipment, just bare frame rails, fuel tank(s), taillamps. Rear bumpers, spare wheel and the tire optional.

The little charmer got wet, outer layer peeled off, taking some/all of the printed codes along with it.
Rating Plate located inside glovebox door: 1948/60.
Warranty Plate located inside glovebox door: 1961/62.
Warranty Plate located on left door face below the latch: 1963/80.
What I don't have is the warranty plate on the door. There are no rivets or anything that would suggest it was there.
I don't think I've ever seen a 1970's-style Warranty Plate on a 1980 truck; add to that, the parts book explicitly says the Certification Label is on the B pillar for 1980/89 and doesn't even acknowledge the existence of a Warranty Plate that I can see..
Or, maybe I'm confused as to what we're talking about?
