80-86 f-350 4x4 front axle
80-85 F350's have leaf sprung TTB Front ends, while 85.5.-97 F350's run a high pinion Dana 60 solid axle. If you could find a 78 or 79 250 or 350, you'd be better off, as the 80-up chassis is 4" wider, and the 85.5 up axle has the pumpkin and spring pads placed differently, and you'd have to go to leafs to get it under the nose of your truck.
Good Luck

The only D60 you will fit under there without major mods is one from a "plow special", or a camper special F-150. F-250 and up used leaf springs since there was an F-250+. But why ditch the D44? Some of those were modified ones, that were almost as heavy duty as a D60, and actually had D60 outers from the factory. Check the spec tag in the drivers side doorway- what is the gross axle weight rating for the front?
