Dr. side power window switch operation issue

Hi All....

I've had such good luck here with troubleshooting help, that I thought I'd throw this one out there...

I have a 2001 SD F250 Lariat Crew Cab Diesel.

Earlier this week,I noticed and issue with the drivers side master power window switch ,or should I say the operation. The issue was that the master switch, initally hesitated to operate the passenger side front window? The widow operates fine from the switch located in the passenger door (down and up) . Initially,it seemed like the problem was that it hesitated from the dr master sw location going down. Then it finally went down? Then it got more intermittent ,and now it won't work down or up?

My thought was to ring out the master switch that controls the pass front window. I removed the master switch assembly yesterday ,and rang it out. I checked continuity between the power term and the up and down terminals. Bingo, the down terminal had no continuity when pressed. I took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts. I reassembled the switch and checked continuity between all the terminals (up/down) on all four switches. Had good continuity,on all four switches,so I reassembled the unit and reinstalled. My expectation was high,as it seemed like the problem was at the switch.

After reinstalling,I the power window on the pass front, still will not operate down or up from the master switch location? The switch on the pass front door operates it fine, but still no go from the dr master control location?

I decided to ring out the switch at the wiring harness, right off the master switch. It is getting 12.5 VDC to the wiring harness off the switch? I checked this with a neat attachment I have that pieces the insulation of the wire ,just enough to make contact with the conductor.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I ask this here first now at this point, because I realize that sometimes these problems are cronick, since we all have similar vehicles. I thought maybe the wiring harness might have a spot where theres a fatigued conductor somewhere, and it might be in a spot that others have experienced this in?

I have not had the time to ring things out or study them further ,since yesterday.

I've thought about trying to ring out the harness more downstream, but again, thought I check here first.

I did for giggles ,wiggle the wiring harness where it transitions from the door to the truck body,on both the driver and pass side, while trying to operate the switch . No go?

Thanks in advance....

Rick

Maybe the switch isnt the problem, have you checked the connections inside passenger door

Well, I found the issue. At least it works now.

I rang out the wiring at the pass side door switch (load side of pass door switch, paralelled line side of pass door switch). The switchleg wiring is paralelled at the switch, coming off the driver door master switch. I changed the switch with one from the back door temporarily and it worked. I then proceeded to clean the original pass side door switch after some disassembly. The driver door switch now works.

My conclusion is that the wiring connection at the pass switch was somehow not making correctly (loose) ? It all works fine now.
I should have rang out the load side of the pass switch before switching all around but didn't.

All the same ,I'm giving it one of these
