Cost per mile calculations...?

Just inputted all my maintenance since new into a spreadsheet to figure cost per mile. My figures are NOT including fuel or fuel additive costs. But I have included everything else, from oil changes to the new keyless remote when the old one broke.

I am sitting at $4,985.78 over the last 27,099 miles, equating to $0.18 per mile.

That does not include the oil change and oil/fuel filter change I am about to do. Additionally, I have driven it another 5,000 miles since my last entry.

What are others looking at for cost per mile?

Most mx I have done on my own to save money, but had a few big repairs at the dealership out of necessity.

If you really wannt brake it down you would have to put
Tires
Coolant filter replacement?

I know you said you didnt enclude the fuel additive or the fuel or the oil change or Fuel Filters but thats just on the top of my head.

No, I said I did not include fuel or additive, but I DID include everything else, including oil change, fuel filters, etc. I mentioned it doesn't include the oil change I'm ABOUT to do (e.g., I haven't done it yet).

I have not had to buy tires yet. And I did include coolant filter replacement.

Put it this way, the only thing I did not include is fuel and fuel additive.

I don't know what you mean. I was just calculating it for my own info, and wanted to see what others had, if mine was low, high, etc.

Nope, wasn't going to do towing for hire right now. Just curious for my own records, to see how I compare.

Do you have the fuel info? It would be interesting to
see your true total cost per mile. Then you could tell if the IRS
is allowing a PSD owner a fair per-mile cost.

I do indeed have all my fuel info. I'll have to take some time to compile it though.

$per mile is used to justify whatever you want to do IMO.
Consider at 10 mpg 100,000 miles is $30k in fuel at $3/gal but you never need to rent a uhaul.
A hybrid saves big on fuel, but can't carry lumber
back from home depot..
what happens in 10 years to those batteries?

That is interesting. Even more interesting is you only have 27k + 5k miles on your 2005. 5k$ seems like a lot for 32k miles. But maybe not s lot for maintenance costs over 7 years.

Thanks for sharing.

Apologies for the confusion, I have 139,500, but I purchased with 108,500-ish. Alot of that $5k was the "bullet proofing" I did (EGR delete, oil cooler, etc) and a recent 2 x injector fail.

I purchased around June 2010.

I dont even want to venture a guess at my cost per mile. Some things are better left a mystery.

at 92K miles, the engine rebuild amounted to eleven cents for every
one of those miles.

sorta takes the charm out of these thrifty diesels, doesn't it?
