YOur right LXMAN... my point was, he is looking at the wrong light. I think he was leading us the wrong direction saying "the oil light".... oil is not his problem.
Looks like the oil pressure light to me . It's on the left side of the cluster and is shaped like Aladdin s lamp with what appears to be a drop of oil coming out the spout. Wouldn't intenially lead you in the wrong way. I have concluded that its a head gasket leak. There is exhaust fumes in the resevoir and after warm up it must seal its self off
Hi plugg28,
have you figured out which head gasket (left or right) it was? On which cylinder?
Got the same issue as you got, but I have to wait until it's getting a little bit warmer outside (can't heat the Garage) and don't wanna freeze my fingers off!!
But I ordered parts already. Seems I got at least a broken Head Gasket on the right bank. Hope it's not the cylinder head as 3years ago on the left side.
Seems to me that this is a quite common problem on this Modular Engine .
I think my temp. gauge in my 98 reads head temp., cause you can blow all the coolent out and it will be pinging like crazy and still the gauge is like 2/3rds.
Whether or not your coolent crossover is metal or plastic, if it's not leaking it doesn't matter. It will leak down into the valley. I blew mine wide open in my old 98 Mustang Gt. It was like a waterfall coming off the valley in the rear. The replace intake is metal for the crossover. IIRC that temp. gauge never got over 2/3rds either ....and she was bone dry. If it wasn't for the low coolent light coming on I could have ruined that motor.
