Howdy, folks. I very much like my '95 F150 4X4 XLT, but I wish that its 300 cu. in. in-line 6 cylinder engine had more power. What is the best route to take to accomplish this? I want to get the best "bang for the buck", i.e. use the lowest-cost modifications to get the greatest power increase?
The truck is in great shape, with only about 60,000 miles. I'm hoping for some easy, bolt-on modifications, ideally. Thanks much for your advice.
The best performance option for the buck is the cat back exhaust. Other than that you are very limited because it is a speed density fuel injection instead of Mass Air Flow.
The head is pretty choked up, exhaust manifolds aren't that great, intake isn't that great, etc. There are some cams for them, but I don't know how much they cost. Unfortunately performance parts for the 300 are kind of limited, but they do exist.
It's not like a 302 where you can get a $150 cam, $20 gasket kit and get +35HP
