Its a COE with what looks like a standard 66 cab, and a different front end... Maybe the roof is streached a little? I want it just because its weird... Anyone else seen one of these?
Ford made a series of trucks that looked like the 66 that you have in the ebay ad. They had a designation on tht 'T' series, I think. Usually the trucks were designed for heavy duty use. When Ford came out with the 'Louisville" line, they dropped the other heavy duty trucks. The yellow truck in the other ebay ad is a 'C' series cab over. Ford made that style for many years. I have a 61 C-600 and a 66 C-800 that are the same color and look just alike. I think they made the C series until the late 80s or early 90s. The C series have a goofy shifter that can cause all kinds of grief. It also has a hydraulic clutch that can be a headache. The power steering system that was offered on them was a linkage assist that is prone to leaks. Don't buy one with out power steering, though, cause they are nearly impossible to drive with manual steering if the truck is loaded. I've got a 428, 5 speed Clark and 2 spd in the 61, and a 477, 5 spd Spicer and 2 spd in the 66. The 66 C-800 was originally a Diesel(Cummins C 160) A terrible waste of cast iron. I yanked it out and installed the 477 and tranny from a T-850. That was a interesting experience, but its been working good for about 22 years so it must be ok. These are grain trucks and haul about 450 bu of wheat when loaded. For all you city boys, that's about 27,000 lbs of load plus the truck!
Holy cow that truck is from Montana, i think i may have seen it before. This is really weird. May have belonged to a friend named Fred Taber. Thats crazy. He lives like ten miles from our ranch.
