Hey IHCC,
I too would like to see this but, man, I'm a long way from Houston. I'm a long way from anywhere 😆
However, I'd like to put it out there, if there are any FTE members in/around the Permian Basin area, includes SE NM, that would be interested in a meet & greet, I'd be happy to host at my place. I have a shop, tools, lift, fridge with a little beer in it, but the BBQ would have to be brought in. I have a cheapo gas grill and I'm no BBQer.
Any interest? Reply here or PM me and we can figure something out. Even one or two & me would be good.
C'mon, let's do this!
Love West Tx. Lotsa great people. My favorite W.Tx story was seeing the guy running from the State Trooper down I-10, couple hundred miles from anywhere in all directions. He wasn't going but 55, but the cop was right behind him lights on. Out there, you can see for miles, so it went on quite a ways.
Yep. It's both the best and worst think about driving out here; roads are straight and flat and there ain't much to look at 'cept Mesquite bushes & pump jacks. On the other hand a 100 mile trip is nothing. I think most folks drive 80 - 85 mph everywhere they go out here, even on the 2-lane roads. A few drive much faster.
I'm out there a lot, crossing back and forth on the interstates and making stops along the way. I rarely drive over 60 in my bus pulling a trailer, and get passed up a lot.
I live in Abilene and have wanted to do a meet and greet. Haven't had any body show any interest in this area. I retired but work part time in the afternoons M-F /1-5 now.
TJ
Well, gotta start somewhere. IHCC, if you're through the area, and have the time, maybe between you, me & TJ, we can put something together.
Colorado City is about half way between Abilene & Midland, on I20, just as an idea. There's a state park and a small lake there. There's also a pretty strong car club, CC Riders. I can find out when their next event is.
Just throwing out ideas.
What do y'all think?
If the timing is right with work and all, I would be down for a GTG with my dinosaur truck. It's always good to meet other FTE members and have a get-a-way. I am in Alvarado, but lived in Lubbock for short spell. I love West Texas. I know it's not for everyone, but I sure liked it.
Hey BB
You, TJ, IHCC & me makes 4. That's a start. I guess timing is the first step for us all, right?
So, I'll start. I have family coming this weekend, heading to Padre, dragging the 5th wheel, middle of next month, and, have someone on Hospice care so that could hailt everything for a bit at any time.
That last issue really makes it tough to commit. Dont mean to over-share here but I'm talking about someone with cancer all over and given 6 months to live, 10 years ago. She's a tough ole bird.
So, yeah, nothing on my calendar (sarcasm). But I'll squeeze something in with y'all, even if it means an overnighter, if I can.
There's lots of fun stuff around Alvarado. From my perspective, trees & lakes are fun 🤠
Im alive and kicking. Pictures are from my step side to style side bed...... and my truck crane, and we sling poop at foreign enemies via trailers now, and the 54 is from my wedding a month ago.
Well it took a bit, but I finally found the end so I cud get started. Not really new to the forum. But lately I have needed a buncha advice and knowledge from other owners. SO, Howdy from San Antone...........
