Hello, I currently have a dp f6 chip, it is o k, but I would like to do more, I want a system that will allow me to run other peoples programs, e-mail capability of tunes, switch on the fly, with a digital readout of which tune I am in, like the f6 switcher, like the Hydra, and in the future as I learn try a few tweaks of my own, Jody says on his videos that he has a quarter horse emulator hooked to the pcm, I know very little about it, please inform, for now I want a platform that can be upgraded as my knowledge grows, and not double spending anymore, I know we have no idea about what the future holds as far as what will be available, I just want to make an informed decision, also I have read posts of tuner forums, looked, but could not find, ideas on that also?
Thank you

Reason: took out 2 -10s
The DP Tuner chip is proprietary - Only they can do your tunes.
If you want a Chip to run other tunes - You'll need to switch to a Ts style chip - but you will still need to pull your chip or bring it to a local shop that can flash tunes to that chip.
Otherwise, you'll be looking at a Tuner like the SCT Livewire that people can email you tunes much more quickly.
Creating your own tunes?
Bit of a risky idea (IMO). There's a couple flash programmers for the Ts Chips on ebay. But trying to learn fuel delivery, timing curves, etc etc is not something you just instantly pick up.
As I tell some people I work with - computers can be more of an art than science sometimes.
I don't know if i'd want to 'experiment' like that on a pretty expensive engine.
I don't plan on being able to write a custom tune right off the bat, but everybody started somewhere, either taking knowledge learned from another source, and applying it, apprenticing with a tuner, etc. I read a post where the poster was learning by trial, and error, like stated above , kinda risky, I will run tried and true tunes from top tuners, but just want to tinker with a stock tune at some point in the future, when that time comes, I don't want to have to buy jet another piece of hardware, all I am asking is what is the best frame work of hardware, and software, to achieve my goals, and find out what, how, or if an emulator will benefit me, can the emulator be ran instead of a chip?

I hear ya and I applaud the person that is the DIY type.
Like I said, if you plan on tinkering, or even looking at the tunes on the chips, it is going to require additional hardware and software to do it.
As I mentioned - the only ones (that I know of) that you might even be able to look into will the Ts Chips since I've seen their firmware burners on ebay. TS Performance 7 3BS 7 3 Ford Powerstroke 4 Bank Chip Burner Software | eBay
Short of getting an EPROM programmer and doing it that way is really going to be your other option, let alone getting quarter horse/binary editor and other tools to dig into the PCM.
As for the tuners that have the flash tunes emailed - I do not know any tools to dig into those as those, as they are usually also proprietary, and the vendors that sell those usually have disclosure documents to not leak those out to the public.
Especially since this is income for them for their tunes, they're not going to want that out in the wild....

EDIT:
Looks like they have some stuff for EFI Live - so there may be some other options for you.
thank you for the information, I checked out moates site, spent a couple hours reading, a lot of good info, I have no desire to copy, or in anyway use other peoples tunes, other than just driving with them. I design products, small time operation, but constantly have to deal with copyright infringement issues, I have 8-10 months on average in a design, and people think it is perfectly fine to just copy it, make their own, and cut the price, there is a lack of ethics in more, and more people these days.

If I understand you correctly, if you have a design you're willing to "Open Source", might be worth while for you to look into covered under a GNU/GPL style or even "CopyLeft" (no that's not a misspell) license.
I design custom fiberglass automotive, and motorcycle parts, and this is a perfect example of what I am talking about, with the wicked wheel gen II, I have no connection to it, but Bob is going through what I have gone through, my stuff is easily copied, just like his, I feel for him, i am sure he did his copyright paperwork, but still a pita,
I think I understand you a little more clearly now, and absolutely agree.
And Bob is being a little vocal about it as well.
The actual thread in discussion about that is over here: riffraff billet wheel? ?? - PowerStrokeArmy
Playing a little Devil's advocate - the billet wheels that's over at RiffRiff's has been up for a his site for sale for some time. (I know this because I've been looking at getting one for the longest time - before Bob's was introduced.)
However, I can't say it's a 'knock-off' as technically - it's not.
It's been manufactured by someone else - however, compared to other wheels for similar functionality...
I know it's just Symantec's and word play - but yes, could easily be misinterpreted.
But sure thing - I agree with you.
Copyright and patent design's are key for something like that.
I kinda jumped the gun on that one, but it illustrates how important copyright patents are, IIRC there needs to be a 20% difference in design to not be called a copy, I don't mind if people gain inspiration from my designs, and improve on them, just change it more than 20%, don't just "splash" ( fiberglass industry term for using an existing part to make a mold off ) it.
